Modern TiMes *

Through the movie we could see for example; how people were affected during this time. In terms of jobs, people should work very hard, long laboral working days to receive little money just to survive. In most of the factories people were working full of unfairness but unfortunately they didn’t have more options. Also, we could appreciate how people were unhappy with the political, economical and social situation of the country. That is the main reason why they were on strike, complaining, protesting on the street and so on. However, the situation did not improve so they had to stay working despite of the injustices. Moreover, in this time machines started to take the control, so was also a period of unemployment.

In the movie we saw that Chaplin got almost crazy because of too much work. So we could infer that maybe people were extremely stressed and getting nuts because of the exploitation and abuse of those times.

In general, Industrialization was a period that brought happiness to those people who were privileged in the society, for example, the owners of factories. But was an unhappy period to those exploited people who have not more opportunities to earn money.

Elizabeth, The golden age.

Based on the movie and the classes that we have had, I can say that the importance of Elizabeth affects in different aspects, such as: cultural, political and economical.
In general, in terms of influences, the monarchy had lots of benefits since Walter Raleigh and Francis Drake started to expand. One important fact is that during her reign literature was spread to many other lands because of the expansion. Elizabeth realized that was extremely important to conquer other places to make them colonies.
In that way, the reign would be bigger and powerful.

Another important issue its that Elizabeth was known as "The Virgin Queen". This is because she never wanted to get married. The main reason was that she replied many times that she was married with her nation (her people). Moreover she had to overcome the prejudice of some people who said that she was not able to govern the country.

Related to religion, as we know Elizabeth was protestant. Despite of her thoughts she allowed her people to believe in whatever they wanted. She was noted by protecting all the people just because they were human beings, so they deserved all the respect. I believe that she was loved because of that.

Elizabeth I is known as one of the best queens that England could ever had.

First of all, these concepts are complex to describe, despite of the fact we have been talking about them in classes...

Culture, is something that all human beings have. I think we are the ones who are constantly building our own culture. In terms of our beliefs, ideas, life styles and so on. Sometimes we could share our thoughts but not necessarily.

Civilization, I think is related to the organization of all the aspects that involves a community or nation. Economy, politics and sociocultural aspects in which people is the main character in terms of developing or stagnation of the society.

Critical thinking. For me, it is something you learn through the years, when you realize that people are always trying to change your own perspective or beliefs. It is something that you are able to develop by reading, talking, sharing ideas with others and so on. Finally , I think it is absolutely useful as a student, specially in our case as future teachers.

.. expectations..

Dear all,

For this course I really hope to learn as much as possible about all aspects that involves a specific culture and how cultures are related by arts, thoughts, beliefs, etc. I would like to know how people and society are constantly evolving through the years because of science and technology and how that could affect to different cultures. Also, it is important to me that we could realize that as teachers we must know about all topics, because we are an example to everybody, anywhere. Besides I’m sure that knowledge is like a weapon that we have to be able to use during our lives.
